Response to the article: Online Collaborative Inquiry: Classroom Blogging Ventures and Multiple Literacies written by Dr. Judy Arzt

This article had tons of great information and links. One link that I found really interesting was the Global Read Aloud Project. Students from all over read the same book and comment on their thoughts and ideas on the book. What a great way for students to learn how children from different cultural backgrounds respond to the same story. Another site I found of great interest was from Mr. Avery's Class blog. The students in this sixth grade classroom researched a country and its animals. They then created animotos about their project. Site has some great examples of student produced animotos.

  1. The Global Read Aloud is an outstanding project. I don't know yet what the two books will be next year, but you can visit the site to keep current. You can read one of the books to your prek students and get their reactions. If you set up a class Twitter account, you can have the students say their reactions and tweet their short responses. There will be a hashtag to tweet out these responses for all the classes that participate. If you have Skype in your school, your students can Skype with another class, perhaps a first grade one, and those students can tell your students how they reacted to the book. The animal Animotos might suggest some ideas for your preschool students. Visit Nolia's blog from spring 2012 to see how she used Animoto with her preschool students.
